1. Race of the Minutemen
Our manager is very satisfied because today Que Nam Hong has managed to win Race of the Minutemen for the third time. This was our main goal for this season and we have put in everything we could. We integrated new team mates into to rejuvenate the support team. Our teams first captain, Wang Tuan Lam, was replaced by Hô Ngoc Ngoc and Tieng Dúc Dình by Vo Quang Duong who also made sure he was in top form to support Que. The managers personal company, Broken Chain Cycling Gear, became one of the sponsors of our team during these vital weeks and money was poured into improving Que in whatever way possible. All of this accumulated to a win with the biggest lead (1'04) Que has managed to ever have over all 3 editions. In the previous victories he came to 32" and 12" respectively.
2. Perm Tour
Be Dúc Dình raced in Perm Tour for the first time to try and make it hard on Jussi's domination. Doing very well in the first 2 stages we were hoping for a podium. However an offday and crash in the deciding ITT ruined our chance for that and threw us back to 8th in the GC. Despite this disappointment we think we have a very good basis to return here next season. We will be looking into the probability of fielding a stronger support team for Be to improve his chances too.
3. Hô Ngoc Ngoc
Hô Ngoc Ngoc has maxed at 171 training points and is hopefully the extra captain we need. Despite being young he has raced some good races and he has been trained with the classics in mind. Despite thus being trained for the one day races, we will field him in tours too. With his age and ability he can hopefully bring home some YC jerseys. He will be the first rider that will have multiple chances on a YC in our team. His first test will be Zyte GP in division 3 next week. We can use a one day race captain, as our 2 others are primarily tour captains.
What's next?
What to do now was a question we got from Yuri of Yuri SuperTeam on the forums. Despite that he, the master of mind control, should already have the answer, it is still a very good question on which both the manager and Que have been pondering.
Our manager, reckoned he's still not the most successful manager in RotM since Twente Cycling Team has 4 victories with 3 different riders, of which one was scouted by our manager in his previous team and wants to try and continue the good work in Race of the Minutemen.
However, Que would like to try his chances in other tours too. Out of respect for his status and all his contribution to the team. Despite resting during his TF recharge periods, he not only wins division 4 tours, but also carries the team as it appears, towards a stable div 3 team.
Looking at all the options, and considering the other captains in our team, the conclusion was reached though. That the best options for Que and the team were for him to continue his work in the USA. This is because Be Dúc Dình is a very peculiar rider and will not do well in RotM which is a pure CL / TT race. The same goes for Hô Ngoc Ngoc and despite that he could win the YC possibly, he seems more suited than Que to do well in Norway Tour.
Que himself, unfortunately for him, fortunately for the team, was trained with primarily RotM in mind. This plan succeeded masterfully.
The main goals for next season will then be:
Hô Ngoc Ngoc - Norway Tour YC, Zyte GP
Be Dúc Dình - Perm Tour
Que Nam Hong - Race of the Minutemen
We are gone again, planning the points to be in the right divisions and rank at the right time.
See you again and remember.
Jerseys are forever!
